Work is under way at the World Trade Center cleanup site on a 460-ft-long,
30-ft-wide panel bridge that will provide truck access into the
site's seven-story deep pit. The two-lane span, being installed by
Acrow
Corp., Carlstadt, N.J., will transfer traffic from a dirt haul road
supported by packed debris that crews will dismantle. Fire officials
believe it may yield remains of Sept. 11 victims. The structure, to
be completed next month, includes five support piers and a worker
access sidewalk. Work
is also starting on a new pedestrian bridge from the site's eastern
side to
the nearby World Financial Center.
