Zero Recovery Complete
(New
York, New York) May 30, 2002 – The world stopped and watched as a
symbolic stretcher for those people not found during the recovery
effort was carried out of the pit at Ground Zero, which is the site
where terrorist destroyed the World Trade Centers on September 11,
2001. The stretcher and the Last Truck exited the pit on Acrow Corporation’s
700XS® Panel Bridge Ramp. The Last Truck carried the final piece of
the World Trade Centers, which was a steel column weighing 56 metric
tonnes that had become a memorial to all those lost.
Acrow’s 460-foot-long by 30-foot-wide bridge was installed at Ground
Zero to assist in the recovery effort in addition to the removal of
1.8 million tons of debris. It was perfect for the job because it
was fast to erect and required a minimal amount of labor. The panel
bridge will remain at Ground Zero to help with the rebuilding process
on the 16-acre site.
The ceremony, which began at 10:29 AM - the exact moment the second
tower collapsed - marked the completion of the enormous recovery and
cleanup process. Bill Killeen, President of Acrow Corporation, attended
the event on behalf of Acrow.
According to Killeen,
“The closing ceremony at Ground Zero in New York City was a solemn
and emotional event, and all of us at Acrow are immensely proud that
our Acrow Bridge was used throughout all of the proceedings.”
