ACROW BRIDGES
Creating Engineered Solutions World Wide

Highlights

  • Acrow Bridges reduce a project's timetable up to 50%
  • Contractor focuses on permanent bridge and finishes quickly, which promotes lower costs
  • Temporary bridges eliminate traffic congestion by maintaining traffic
  • Minimal lost time in traffic saves money and promotes commerce
  • Temporary bridges add to a project's safety because there is no need to shift traffic due to construction phasing
  • No need to refurbish an existing detour route to maintain traffic
  • Acrow Bridges can be rented, leased or purchased.

Acrow Introduces New Bridges

NEWSLETTER - VOLUME 1002 September 2001
Temporary Bridges Save –on
Construction Costs and Enhance Safety
Acrow Bridges installed on temporary detour alignments save the owner money and provides greater safety for the motoring public and construction workers.

When an economic model is created it will be seen that an Acrow Bridge saves money on many bridge projects.

33.5m Acrow Panel Bridge with a 9.1m roadway. Deck is asphalt over orthotropic steel deck units. Designed to accommodate 2 lanes of full highway loading.
The economic model needs to include:
  • Construction time is shorter when using a temporary bridge. The shorter time results in lower costs.
  • Since traffic is flowing smoothly, there are no delays for drivers. Drivers arrive on time delivering goods with no added costs for commerce due to workers being idle.
  • If a detour route is being considered versus a temporary bridge, the cost of refurbishing the detour route to handle the increased volume may be substantial.
  • If one detour bridge is purchased and used multiple times, the unit cost of the bridge will be spread over multiple projects; thus, reducing the costs per project.
Finally:
  • With a detour bridge there is no phasing of traffic, which promotes safer conditions for both motorist and workers.
  • All travel lanes are maintained.
  • Fuel is saved using a detour bridge because traffic flows, and the detour bridge is a shorter route than relocating traffic onto local roads.
  • Safer than placing large volumes of traffic onto local town streets.
