Acrow Corporation
Working On Temporary Bridge Spanning the Fore River between Quincy
and Weymouth, Massachusetts.
(Quincy,
Massachusetts) – July 9, 2002 – Acrow Corporation, an international
bridge and engineering and supply company based in Carlstadt, NJ,
has competed 90% of a parallel detour bridge that includes 210-foot-long
twin lift spans. The temporary bridge is being installed by Middlesex
Companies for the owner, Massachusetts Highway Department.
The
twin detour bridge spans the Fore River between Quincy and Weymouth,
Massachusetts and will be used by over 50,000 cars daily. The Acrow
bridge will remain at the site for approximately 20 years.
Construction of the bridge, which began in the fall of 1999, will
be completed by the fall of 2002. At completion, it will consist of
22 approach spans, 210 - foot (64 meter) – long vertical lift spans,
and a total length of over 2500 feet (763 meters). The lift spans
rise to 172 feet (52 meters) above the water.

be the most complex panel bridge project ever undertaken.”
