(New York, New York) – February 12, 2002 – After months of recovery and debris removal at Ground Zero, Koch/Skanska and Local Union Workers, hired by Bovis Lend Lease, LMB, Inc., have erected the first piece that will eventually be part of a 460-foot-long by 30-foot-wide access bridge. The 120’ piece, weighing 55 tons, was lifted into place and is supported by four Acrow Panel towers.
Completion for the $2 million bridge is expected to be March 2nd. However, Acrow President, Bill Killeen, believes the completion date will be earlier than the March deadline. “Acrow was able to meet the City’s needs and short construction schedule with our availability of materials for the modular bridge and our fabrication factory in Milton, PA.” said Killeen. Acrow Corporation is an international bridge engineering and supply company, servicing the transportation and construction industry for over 50 years with a full line of steel bridge products for vehicle and pedestrian applications. For more information on Acrow Corporation, or the Acrow® 700XS® Panel Bridging System, please contact Bill Killeen.
