Acrow® Pedestrian Bridges
Recently Installed
(Carlstadt,
NJ – October 1, 2002) -- Acrow Corporation of America, an industry
leader in the design and manufacturing of prefabricated modular steel
bridges for over 50 years, has supplied bridges for some important
projects including a recent 500-foot temporary bridge for the recovery
and clean up process at Ground Zero in New York City. In addition
to vehicular bridges, Acrow Corporation also supplies aesthetically
pleasing pedestrian bridges. Two recent pedestrian bridges were constructed
in Lakehurst, NJ and Parsippany, NJ.
The Lakehurst, NJ pedestrian bridge spans the Pine Lake Dam with a
length of 100 feet (30 meters) and width of 6 feet (1.83 meters).
The bridge is designed to handle AASHTO pedestrian loads plus a 10,000-pound
(4.5 metric tonne) truck. Also, the weight of the water gates for
the dam is suspended from the bridge.
Acrow also supplied three pedestrian bridges for the Morris County
Center in Parsippany, NJ. The lengths of the bridges were 105 feet
(32 meters), 80 feet (24.4 meters), and 25 feet (7.62 meters) and
they connect the Sheraton Tara Hotel to an adjacent park. Both the
Lakehurst, NJ bridge and the Parsippany, NJ bridges were finished
on schedule and within their budgets.
Acrow Pedestrian Bridges are fully inspected and load tested. They
are made of weathering steel construction to reduce maintenance costs.
Acrow Pedestrian Bridges can be hot-dipped galvanized to additionally
minimize weathering. Acrow bridges are also economical – whether permanently
or temporarily installed, and they are quick and easy to erect with
minimal labor. These pedestrian bridges are fabricated to your exact
requirements.
